Farid Nabili

is the Managing Partner at Caspian Legal Center. Farid Nabili received his legal education at Baku State University (LL.B, 2007) and Central European University (LL.M, 2008), his academic research topics covered the fields of comparative law. He worked as a legal officer and manager in a group of private companies and state institutions, including as the head of the tax legislation reforms department at the Ministry of Taxes of the Republic of Azerbaijan. He initiated and participated in the introduction of a number of international taxation concepts and methods into the current Tax Code (in particular, transfer pricing, Tax Free regime, advance rulings, general rule against tax evasion).

He is recognized as one of the internationally ranked top lawyers in Azerbaijan by several reputable ranking agencies (Chambers & Partners, IFLR 1000, Legal 500), as well as selected as “recognized tax expert practitioner” by World Tax | World TP. 

Farid Nabili is a member of the Azerbaijan Bar Association, the International Bar Association and the European Institute of Corporate Governance. His articles on tax law have been published in the annual reports of the International Bar Association's Tax Committee where he is a Tax Reporter from Azerbaijan, as well as in Bloomberg Tax and other international publications. He is author of Tax Law book (Istanbul, Bilnet, 2023). He has also been teaching law at a number of local universities since 2012. Currently, he is teaching Tax law and International Tax Law courses at Baku State University for English-speaking group and Business Law course at Khazar University.

His areas of specialization are project development, corporate law, tax law, construction law, finance and banking law. He has represented multinational enterprises and leading domestic businesses in complex tax disputes involving both domestic and international tax matters. He has also advised on multimillion-dollar financial transactions (including loan agreements), major infrastructure and construction projects, and energy and renewable energy developments. Over the course of nearly 18 years, he has represented clients from more than 40 countries in contract negotiations across a wide range of industries.
